A Hard Day's Night (movie)
A Hard Day's Night (movie)
Has anyone seen this? Seriously the best mockumentary ever made. The humor is so clever and dry and the "live" stuff is excellent for drooling over guitars. They're much better actors than I thought they would be too.

Kaleb, before you get smashed for this statement, take this into note:kaleb2470 wrote:Has anyone seen this? Seriously the best mockumentary ever made. It will all be for be fun, and no offence will be meant by it. Since you a relatively new to this board, you should know that many of (myself) us possess senses of humor a bit drier than the Sahara. So please don’t take any offense.
"I myself couldn't resist"
On a positive note, better late than never discovering “A Hard Day’s Night.” It’s considered a staple of rock and roll. I also think it was one of the first musical films to revolve around that era in pop music. I know that before that, there was “Rock around the clock”, the girl can’t help it, and countless Elvis movies. Unlike most, if not all, Elvis movies, “A Hard Day’s Night” is highly regarded by the cinematic community as well as the Rock & Roll community. This has caused it to be
If you did like this film, give the others a shot.
HELP! : Funny movie, in color, very good music. Kind of a silly story line, but it seems to work well enough to watch more than once. Can be bought anywhere (it was released recently on DVD after not being available for years)
Magical Mystery Tour: Ok, tough one here. If you like the music from this album (which I do) it’s worth the watch. However except for a few funny moments, what lies between the music videos, is pretty rough to get through. A lot of it just made no sense to me.
Yellow Submarine: This is a cartoon NOT voiced by the Beatles (they make a small cameo at the end). This is a children’s cartoon, that I feel works well for adults. Very creative animation and entertaining. If you watch it, I think you’ll like it. The only problem is, you'll be asking yourself for weeks… “RINGO, WHY’D YOU PUSH THE BUTTON!?!?!”
Let It Be: This film was like none other the Beatles released (until The Anthology). In more of a documentary format than a written and directed film. It was filmed during what was probably the worst (personally, not musically) period of there careers. George actually waked out of the studio during these sessions for a short amount of time. Nevertheless it’s my favorite behind the Anthology. It is a very in-depth look at the making of an album that sometimes gets overlooked in the Beatle catalogue. This film can only be found on bootleg (in DVD form at least). The rumor is that Paul and Ringo do not want an official release. The reason for this is thought to be the fact that with an official release, extra footage would be mandatory, just like every other DVD. Paul and Ringo apparently fear that this footage would show even rougher tensions between the group. This is one I’ll dive on if ever released to the public.
The Anthology: Quite Simply, the APEX! 9 DVDs. The most in-depth documentarty about the group. ALL IN THERE OWN WORDS! If you like the Beatles, needing to have this set, is like needing air! I try to go through it every year.
Give My Regards To Broadstreet: Strictly a Paul McCartney film. Filmed in 1984. Basically Paul’s own version of “A Hard Day’s Night.” A look into a day in the life (excuse the pun) of Paul McCartney. Smashed by the critics, sank like Jimmy Hoffa at the box office, and made Paul a punch line for a little bit. I do like the movie for two reasons….. 1) I’m kind of a McCartney butt-boy. 2) It features my favorite guitar. Paul’s 4001S.
I believe all of these films have redeeming entertainment value in some way or another.....um.... well, let me think.... Magical Mystery Tour???
Boy, I'm long-winded today! Sorry brothers/sisters.

"No More Lonely Nights" makes that one worth it.

It truly is one of his finest ballads. The other thing I like about the movie is that we get to see Chris Spedding, Dave Edmunds and Ringo as Maccers backing band. Very cool.nukebass wrote:congerz83 wrote:Give My Regards To Broadstreet: Strictly a Paul McCartney film. Filmed in 1984. As for the storyline, the least said the better. It was a bit of a disappointment.

Hey Kaleb!
Welcome and don't mind the teasing! Most of us "Beatlemaniacs" have already digested every bit of bootleg and alternate takes that is out there a long time ago.
When I read your post I was saying to myself "He must be joking right?" Are you?
But then I remembered when I discovered the Fabs as a kid in Puerto Rico. I thought they were still together when I first heard my dad's "Meet The Beatles" LP.
I used to ask him to please take me to see them if they ever came to play in Puerto Rico. Oh did I say this was in 1978? LOL
I saw finally saw the Ed Sullivan performance for the first time on a bootleg video tape I got in 1986. It blew me away to finally see them performing live after hearing their music on records for so long. I had only seen them in photos until them and I had never seen any of their films in Puerto Rico. Things like that just never made their way over there.
I guess it depends on where you live and how much access you have to their music and other media. Before the internet it was very difficult to get these things.
Now in the era of DVDs, You Tube and file sharing, its a great time to be a Beatles fan!

Re: A Hard Day's Night (movie)
Hey, everyone! Thanks for the welcome.
Hahaha I suppose "has anyone seen this?" is quite a silly way of putting it
. Rest assured, I am well aware of the cultural impact of a hard days night (Film, music, and books take up 100% of my life
). I think I first saw this movie around 5 years ago (I'm only 19 guys, give me a break
). It pretty much got me into music and movies from the 60s in general.
I wanted to see if there was a discussion about it but I couldn't find it when I made a seach so I figured I'd make a thread and see if some of the more dedicated Beatles fans could point out extra bits and facts about the film I didn't know about. What I should have typed was "What are your thoughts on "A Hard Days Night?'"
p.s. I have seen Help, Let It Be, Yellow Submarine, and Magical Mystery Tour but thanks for the other suggestions!. A Hard Day's Night is by far my favourite.

Mine too. It is a brilliant film... Adding Zombies would have been about the only way to improve it...

Its great to see that HDN (and the Fab Four in general) continue to inspire generation after generation.p.s. I have seen Help, Let It Be, Yellow Submarine, and Magical Mystery Tour but thanks for the other suggestions!. A Hard Day's Night is by far my favourite.
Kaleb: I suggest you invest in this DVD which (aside from the film itself) has a lot of interviews and other stuff of interest:

Re: A Hard Day's Night (movie)
Somebody mentioned "The Making Of A Hard Days Night." I believe this is the film that aired on PBS several years back, then titled, "You Can't Do That - The Making Of A Hard Days Night." This is a fascinating film with lots of backstage footage if I recall. I used to have it on VHS, I'll have to see if I still have it.
