To clarify your post, "removed the assembly screws and got it higher up to the strings" you mean the 4 corner screws that hold the cover to the bottom plate and not the 4 nail pole pieces. RIght? I just don't want someone misinterpreting that and trying to raise the nails, which will ruin the coil winding internally.

Yes, that's what I mean. The 'nails' are called polepieces and they're all there, as you can see in my avatar.

Thanks again guys, I think this is the route to go because who knows when a 70s Bridge HG will show up. I've been playing lately on the neck pup only and the tone is fabulous, it's great to fall in love again!

Isn’t it time now for you to unwind that C64 RI horseshoe?

I didn’t spend much time listening to it before I unwound mine. It overpowered the toaster so much I just ripped it out and did it. It sounds good as it is at 8.3K, but I regret not taking it slow, try it at some steps between 11K and 8.5K, with and without a 4.7nF cap.

Why would issuing the horse shoe pickup in the boutique remove the possibility of further reissues? They sell all the other pickups they use in the boutique, and I don't see any reason why this particular one would be any different. There still is supposed to be a replacement for the C64

I dunno,,, I just always assumed that the main reason you couldnt buy a RIHS pup assy, was because they were unique to to vintage reissues. I mean if you had an "S" series 4001/4003 it would be awful easy to make your own V or C series bass if you could buy all the components from the boutique. Input?

During the 4001v63 era, you could purchase a RIHS from the boutique. So, I don't see any reason that it couldn't happen again.

Some of the considerations when it comes to inventory is having enough on hand for planned production and for replacement for warranty issues. If there is a comfortable surplus, items such as this pickup may appear in the Boutique. We don't know what (or if) RIC is planning for a new "vintage" series now that production of the C64/C64S (and earlier V63) models have ended, but the RIHS has only one application – a vintage bass.

I have said many time we would offer this pickup when the trademark issues were settled, i.e. infringers sorted out. We are now down to only one party that has not fully complied with the cease and desists that were delivered awhile ago. It's simply a matter of whether we have to file our suit in federal court or whether they see the light first which will determine how quickly these are available again. It will also be a factor in determining the final selling price too.
