And it's SOLD!
For $2551. Pretty cheap for a RIC one-off...

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

That is a very low price for a RIC one off!
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!

I'm shocked
to say the least. I thought the reserve would have been higher.
Re: Ric Outlet WHITE 4003!
Sean had this bass finished to replicate the Gibb RM 1999. I remember sending him photo's and giving him measurements, so he could get the neck that slim and that dark color.bassduke49 wrote:Looks like I need to do more 'splainin'. This started life as a Fireglo 4001V63. Sean Kelly sent it to Dale Fortune to have it customized. Dale stripped it and shaved the neck to a thinner profile, "stained" the bubinga fretboard and head wings to a dark dark brown, then refinished in a non-yellowing snow white. I think the position markers were also replaced. As I said, the Horseshoe pickup is the old original style, not the reissue, but I can't remember if it was assembled from parts or all original. I bought it from Sean in January 2008.
As mentioned here, I tend to think if this bass had been all white with chrome, it would have made $3K comfortably. The visual impression is so much stronger than with BT, which, at first glance, reminds one of the 80's.

I had other things on my mind and now I'm kicking myself. I'd soooo pay $2.5K+ for that bass. It's like they had me on their mind when they made this bass.

Yep, white on white w/ chrome would have made all the difference in the world, and checker binding would have put it over the top.wints wrote:

In reply to an email I just received concerning the above statement. Dont take my comment as a complaint.cheyenne wrote:

I love these "one-offs" that RIC occasionally tosses out. The above comment is strictly my personal opinion.

Yeah, when I said "+1" about the idea of checkered binding and chrome hardware, that was my personal preference as well...no complaints here!

Scott, I wouldn't give a d*mn. If someone is not even allowed to even offer an opinion these days without someone taking it as a complaint, that's their problem. They need to air it out here for all to see, rather than hide behind a PM, or, move on to somewhere else.cheyenne wrote:In reply to an email I just received concerning the above statement. +1,000,000.
One thing that I don't like about the white pickguards is that they don't fade in the same way that binding does. To me, they look rather garish against the more organic, woody finishes in particular (Jetglo is perhaps the only case where it looks good to me). While I do like the contrast of white/black on this one (I was a high bidder for a while on this, but still a bit below the reserve), the new non-yellowing white finish is just the perfect place to have a virgin white pickguard and just that subtle touch of checkered binding would have been exquisite.

Can we have everything louder than everything else?
Re: Ric Outlet WHITE 4003!
maybe the next one will be a shadow reissue...all Black!!! that would be cool...just my opinion of course...YMMV
