Furthermore, just merely an observation, one would think the copying of,(or whatever you wanna call it), RIC parts would be a pretty fruitless venture. Most owners don't want fake parts, and RIC legal will put you out of biz. Seems like a pretty shoddy business idea to invest in this practice.

It's a pain ( and $$ ) to pursue trademark infringement issues.. for any manufacturer..

.. and if you don't diligently pursue every instance you become aware of.. you jeapardize your hold on your design.

and I <gather from the long running lawsuit Fender has waged re: Telecasters ) .. they sure as heck with they had been more heads up before letting the Tele and Strat body style be copied by every T, D and Harry. That horse is way outta the barn.

Poster got his feelings hurt. Sorry... that's the world...

(.. although: The RIC crowd is pretty rabid toward all things Rickenbacker! - for good reason! )

I thought this was about the band X and Billy Zoo as well. I met him at NAMM, but I didn't think I'd have any effect on him switching to Ricks . . . . .

If we can't call non Rickenbacker toasters, 'Toasters', how about calling them 'Bread Browners'?

i.e. A typical Ebay listing could be....
"A Chinese made Rickenbacker guitar copy complete with ****** spaghetti tailpiece and bread browners"

A word of warning though, 'Bread Browners' should not be confused with 'Bed Browners', which of course should only associated with Fender Guitars.

Broodrooster is Dutch for Toaster  somehow I think you already guessed that.
If I want to buy a Rick here I have to ask for one with broodroosters or maybe a hoefijzer in vuurgloed :D

This just may be a syntax problem, but that trademark appeal action (not a lawsuit) is long over. Their marks for the body shape were invalidated and are now free for anyone to use:

This decision further reinforces our need to be diligent and police infringements as we see them.

That's another thing I don't understand. There's almost no market in these fake parts and it make no business sense to invest in tooling for these. The low volume assures that there isn't any money in it; from a purely business standpoint, these makers would have better luck in duplicating high volume or some routinely replaceable components.

Telecaster Discussion Page Reissue. It's a forum for Teletwangers. Lots of good stuff on that forum, a real group of characters. Much like here. I don't really see what the OP is upset about.
