2009 vs 2010 4003 Necks?

I had a 74 4001 with all old features, very flat thin neck, 1/2" spacing, Grovers etc and that neck was so stable I had to put on heavy gauge Fender flatwounds to move it all all, it was a little too flat for me when I first got it, it had absolutely no relief in it at all at took several weeks with the flatwounds on it to move at all. Why? Have no idea.

The same with my '74 4001 FG (currently with Paul W. for refin and overhaul). The head had some cracks (probably due to a stage-(neck-)dive) when I got it, however the fingerboard and neck were extremely (for RIC terms) stable. This was my first 4001 ( I had 5 of them) which could bear roundwounds without fingerboard separation when adjusting the truss rods (and there was still a lot of tolerance in them).

Mine was fireglo too, I really miss that bass, had a great deep sound to it.
