I apologize to attendees if I ran off to put out a fire in mid-sentence, or didn't get to visit with you with more than a "hey" or a passing wave. I know there are no perfect events, but I want everyone to go away having had a blast and played as much as they wanted to, and I know we didn't accomplish that, as fun as the event was. It was great to see everyone there. You guys all made the event a success.
Mark, I'm sorry you didn't get to drum more
I should like to add that Paul S. should be a millionaire on his drumming skills alone; he jumped up onstage I don't know ho w many times with different styles and played it like he knew it forever. He jumped in on the surf set and played killer surf drums after saying "I don't really know surf..."-R-i-i-i--i-ght. Vito and I turned to each other with smiles of amazement as we watched, and Vito said, "Paul is so solid!"
Alberto did a fantastic job as well, and props to him for playing outside his comfort zone and to different styles than his usual favorites. My jaw dropped as I watched him perform drum acrobatics on "Crazy Train" while I was trying to reasonably approximate Randy Rhoads' riffing. Cool stuff!
Joey's blues band sounded killer as well; I went into the display room for a few minutes and heard some great stuff; it sounded so professional and dynamic that I thought I was listening to a recording of 70s bluesy Clapton going through the sound system. It was only when the song ended that I realized it was live, and it was Joey's band, at which point I felt like a ding dong for not being out on the floor watching.
