Once again I would like to repeat my Thank yous to drummers Dave, Mark, Paul S., and Alberto. I can't remember if I left any drummers out. I was running around like mad all day. I barely got to visdit with John Hall, or properly thank some of the guys in person, especially those who came from far away or I hadn't seen in a long time. I was starting to have a great chat with Brian Fitzpatrick, and I had to run off to do something else, and I didn't get to jam with him or say goodbye.

I apologize to attendees if I ran off to put out a fire in mid-sentence, or didn't get to visit with you with more than a "hey" or a passing wave. I know there are no perfect events, but I want everyone to go away having had a blast and played as much as they wanted to, and I know we didn't accomplish that, as fun as the event was. It was great to see everyone there. You guys all made the event a success. :D

Mark, I'm sorry you didn't get to drum more  ; please contact me before the next time with a list of some of your fave numbers and we'll give you priority! :D

I should like to add that Paul S. should be a millionaire on his drumming skills alone; he jumped up onstage I don't know ho w many times with different styles and played it like he knew it forever. He jumped in on the surf set and played killer surf drums after saying "I don't really know surf..."-R-i-i-i--i-ght. Vito and I turned to each other with smiles of amazement as we watched, and Vito said, "Paul is so solid!" :D

Alberto did a fantastic job as well, and props to him for playing outside his comfort zone and to different styles than his usual favorites. My jaw dropped as I watched him perform drum acrobatics on "Crazy Train" while I was trying to reasonably approximate Randy Rhoads' riffing. Cool stuff! :D

Joey's blues band sounded killer as well; I went into the display room for a few minutes and heard some great stuff; it sounded so professional and dynamic that I thought I was listening to a recording of 70s bluesy Clapton going through the sound system. It was only when the song ended that I realized it was live, and it was Joey's band, at which point I felt like a ding dong for not being out on the floor watching.

Hey Scott --- are we gonna get 8) Spence to join in a jam with us, at the next Mini Con ?
Spence seemed pretty enthusiastic, checking out all the gear. Hereditary RAS setting in ?
Maybe one of the short scale 325 guitars would be a perfect fit !! :D :D

Ditto! Especially Paul S. who stepped in and did an awesome job as we supplied some instrumental background while the PA was being set up.

Thanks to all of you who devoted a lot of time and effort-GREAT JOB!

All the jammers-from noobies to pros: There were some great sounds coming from that stage! Thanks to all of you for your participation. That's what it's all about.

First ones here from the Surf set ....

Paul's 330 that I'm playing is, in fact the Midnight Blue. I chose it because it matched the 620.

Actually, mine's an Azureglo Blue 365 WB; it's an `84, and the last year for Azureglo. I ordered it brand new way back when, with the "hot toasters," which were called "vintage chrome bar pickups" in period brochures. I ordered it before I could even really play guitar (I knew four chords; E, A, D, and G, so I could copy the Cramps' rendition of "Goo Goo Muck" with the real guitarist of te band I played bass in back in the day. It was my first band, and drummer Paul Sakry's first band as well). That AZ Blue Rick was my first Rick guitar, and the guitar I learned to play on. I guess I started out at the top; I never had a "learner's" guitar, nor was I forced to learn to play "Mary Had a Little Lamb" or anything like that on an acoustic!

I should play it more; it's a thick-topped, "X" braced model, and the guitar that re-ignited my "RAS" five years ago. Ideally, if any of the forum members who own them would ever part with them, I would like to buy one of the three AZ Blue 360 WB/12s that are around, to match the guitar. It would be cool to have a double bound 360/12 string, especially one that matched the very first one I ever bought. :D

Here's the first little SCARF video clip I've converted over to You Tube. I'm learning how to use this camcorder with its several hundered pages of instruction manuals  -- so bear with me ! :)

This first snippet is our Bassist friends chatting in the Display room area .

I did. I used Joey's with flats on it. Paul (drummer) and I did our best impersonation of an indulgent rhythm section on a Rolling Stones tune.

Here's another video clip from the SCARF/Ricktoberfest® Display room, a little later on in the afternoon.

This starts out with Jake talking with JH, who is setting up his Bass for display and we move across the room, filming Forum members right and left ....
