Too bad that the poster I saw the other night had the TRC name blurred out.

I don't know why they would, as it won't help them avoid any infringement issues.

Obviously, it's not infringement to use a Rick in a performance, or film that performance, and I'd guess even an actor who can't even play could use one in a film, etc.

I'm guessing they don't want to advertise a product without getting paid for its "placement". Of course, a Rick bass is so completely identifiable that obscuring the name does little to keep people from knowing what it is, but film and TV folks only like to put a named product in if they are getting paid for it...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Who knows? Maybe the poster publisher tried to get $$ from RIC for the "ad," and JH may have refused, and the publisher rubbed out the name. I've seen versions of the poster (on line only) with both the name and the name fuzzed out. We'll see what I get. If mine is fuzzed out, I'm going to do my own modifications.

That poster reminded me of too many visits to Mars and GC, where there was someone looking like that shredding away on the only 4003 in the place.

I was just at the movies and saw a promo for this flick. Looked like he also uses a MMT Ric bass in anther clip.

Got my poster yesterday. They advertised it as "printed on both sides" and I was wondering what that meant. Here are shots of front and back. Oh, by the way, the Rickenbacker TRC printing is rubbed out. The back side printing is reversed and in register with the front. The colors are subdued and this adds color depth and contrast when viewed from the front in a back-lit marquee box. Neat!

Since the Blu-Ray is coming out on Nov. 9, my favorite BD website did a review and posted a decent screenshot of Michael C. with the Ric.

The bass in the poster has full inlays and walnut head wings but the bass in the movie does not.

Pretty sure the Ric gets destroyed in the movie and replaced with a Fender P-Bass.

The one in that screenshot looks just like my 2007 AFG.

Ah yes, a proper bass for Scott Pilgrim at last! Actually I heard the Ric was destroyed by the Precision, or Mustang, or something. Then it comes back covered in duct tape. I dunno. I haven't seen it.

Well, that sounds about par for a P-Bass. Brutish and unrefined. :P

LEL

BTW, if this were TalkBass, I would receive about 100 flames and caused 5-7 people to have rage-induced aneurysms.

The 4003 FG comes back all duct taped together after the battle with the Mustang.

Toward the end of the movie, one of Scott's friends plays a 4003 JG.
