60s 340 with Badass (tm) bridge - 'Reptile' - Church

Marty winning the Most Swaggering Fellow of 1989 award here (with a few more beautiful Rics behind him on stage). Excellent guitar interplay in this cut.

footnote: Steve's Coronado bass is one of the prettiest 4 stringers I've ever seen.

Just so happens EVERY Coronado I ever touched was a dog, an absolute dog.

Marty described it as 'the twangiest Ricky ever'.

Paul Weller did something similar with one of his 330s, adding a stop tailpiece, though I can't remember if it was an all in one bridge and stop tailpiece, or a separate bridge and stop tailpiece. Similar effect visually.

Interesting post.I never even noticed Martys bridge on that guitar before, and hadnt seen Wellers 330 mod before either.I am curious as to what the reasoning is,for replacing the Ric tailpiece.Sustains better?? Or is it just for visual appeal...

Very cool. I've always liked the Church, but never knew Marty used ricks. Havent seen much footage of them.

Yeah, it doesn't have the "R" bridge, but it still sounds cool. I've always like Marty Wilson-Piper's playing and his tone. Thanks for sharing the vid! :)

Jimmy, MWP claimed it had more 'twang' than any other Ric he'd ever played.

Cool video.... that Ric looks really good, even without the original bridge and tailpiece. I really enjoy some of the Church's music.
