A Boy Named Johnny Cash
A Boy Named Johnny Cash
Who likes Johnny Cash? I do, he's one of the few country artists I actually like. His singing style is one of the most interesting I've ever heard. My favorite song, "Ring of Fire".

I like Johnny Cash.
I also like:
Buck Owens
Merle Haggard
Lefty Frizzel
Hank Williams (The Original)
Willie Nelson
George Jones
...and some others.....
Its funny how time changes perception. When Cash started out on Sam Phillips Sun Record label, he wasn't considered "country" at all.

Love Johnny! He defies classification. Bob Dylan idolized him, too.

Re: A Boy Named Johnny Cash
I'm a big fan of the "Cash wing" of country music - Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Jerry Jeff Walker, Guy Clark, and I could go on and on...
Re: A Boy Named Johnny Cash
Yep..the 2nd Lp I ever bought (right after Duane's Have Twangny Guitar Will Travel) was Johnny Cash The Songs That Made Him Famous on the SUN label
Re: A Boy Named Johnny Cash
I'll echo Steve's comment. As far as J. R. Cash goes, I like I Walk The Line, Cry, Cry, Cry, and (Ghost) Riders In The Sky.Ric-O-Buc wrote:I like Johnny Cash.

However, don't forgot The Highwaymen, one of the best concerts I ever attended.

Mr Cash - the epitome of cool....

Not many people dislike Johnny cash and for good reason.
Re: A Boy Named Johnny Cash
I'm a little embarrassed to admit that when I was a kid, I absolutely did not like Johnny Cash. What an unappreciative idiot I was! And yes, I've even gained a new appreciation for Buck Owens, too. I've always liked Hank (Sr. ...the original, and to me the Only) and Lefty Frizzell too, as well as George Jones. I'd have to list John Prine on my list of modern country singers/songwriters along with Guy Clark.

Like Hank 3 and Jerry Reed as well!
Re: A Boy Named Johnny Cash
Johnny Cash the man and his music transcend classification.
This rendition of "Deliah's Gone" blew me away, and Kevin Bacon's intro is right on.
My favorites are "Folsom Prison Blues" and "Cry, Cry, Cry".

We got married in a fever... hotter than a pepper sprout...
John was the man. Hurt was an awesome gutsy remake considering his age at the time. Joaquin Phoenix got robbed of an oscar IMHO.
