... What I should have said was, Clapton peaked for me with Crossroads. I have not nor ever will refer to him as a GOD. My two guitar "GODS" are Vaughan/Hendrix.congerz83 wrote:I thing Clapton's status as "GOD" peaked with Crossroads.

yes, so many have had an influence in the playing of guitar, from Segovia to Vaughn. Even Roger McGuinn changed guitar playing. Each with their own contribution. Being a guitarist is good

Re: Get Back.....
Agreed that EVH changed the face, but was it for the better? To me, he's one hit of crystal meth short of becoming Yngwie. But the first album did turn heads when it came out when I was 15 (emphasis on impressionable youth).congerz83 wrote:For me, "Voodoo Child (Slight Return) would be the summit for rock guitar. Like I said, for blues guitarists, Clapton isn't half the player Stevie Ray Vaughan is. Van Halen, even if he isn't your cup of tea, cannot be denied his place as one of the VERY select few who changed the face of guitar.
In any case, if you put Clapton, Page and EVH in a room with Django, Segovia, Hendrix, Grant Green, Kenny Burrell, Roy Clark or Chet Atkins, you couldn't bring enough changes of clean underwear to maintain any level of dignity.
Can we have everything louder than everything else?

The person that first spray painted "Clapton Is God', could not spell. He meant to say "Clapton is Good".
