How scarce are used black trim pieces?

Post by MaplegloMatt »

Hi,
I need a little insight into the value of used black trim pieces for a 4003. I'm thinking of possibly parting with some and I'm not sure of going prices. Original tuners, pick up surrounds, tailpiece, pickguard.
Any input greatly appreciated.

Average prices - the black cover for the bridge pup is rare. You might be able to find someone who will swap chrome for your black.

I just sold a black pickup cover.. I have a spare pickguard that no one seems to want. It is better to trade because then you get what you want in chrome...There are some people who like BT--I am one of them...Many people I am finding do not like the BT and want to go all chrome...I have a set of OG 70's nickle tuners from a 4001, chrome pickup surrounds and a chrome tailpiece so if you want those, let me know and we can talk trade...

Thanks for the info guys. I think I'll post over in the marketplace what I'm going to sell. Jaymi, thanks for the offer to swap but I've already got the chrome/white parts and ilan, I had a prior offer for the surround....if it falls through I'll let you know.

the pickguard doesn't happen to be a 3ply one, does it?

Little chance of that, as with the exception of the 4002, Rick basses all have 1/8" thick, solid (one-ply) acrylic guards.

that's true. dind't think that through really. ;)

still, I wonder where people get those black pickguards with a white edge that you see every once in a while on a jetglo 4003 ... I can't seem to find them on the internet.

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
