Greeting -
Is the MARF an event where someone (like me) would be able to bring my dad's old pre-war Rickenbacher lap steel for show - and possible sell?
Or would this be totally inappropriate?
Just wanted to ask up front since I'm so very new to this forum and arena of interest.
Thanks for any advanced guidance.

Hello Karen, I don't think that would be a problem. There have been sales and swapping at these events before.

I'm just wondering if it would be appropriate for a drum set this time and some real jammin'. Evan at this point has enough working knowledge to play most songs on bass, drums or guitar...and his voice is most definitely coming into it;s own.

Only issue might be sound as the jams may be a bit loud. Nice Spring day? Maybe we set up outside?

Not into the jamming myself. I rather liked the quieter aspect of the past two MARFs with just the occasional impromptu guitar n' bass jam going on. But that's just me!

John - Thanks for the green light to do a possible show/sell.
I'm hoping I can fit this event into my spring travels - seems like the perfect venue to find a future owner who will appreciate my dad's old lap steel.
Plus...it sounds like a fun and cool event!

yeah maybe you're right. the jamming seems to fit better with the SoCal things cuz they do it at night. I'm just thinking of keeping Evan occupied so i can hang with my friends for a bit.

Shouldn't it be held on an oceanliner mid-atlantic? What's the history behind the name?

Too bad I can't make it - got too many holidays already planned for next year. One day I'll be there, though! :D
