ROS on a 4004Cii?
Looking at the jack on my 4004Cii, I see there is enough room for the traditional 4001/4003 style jack plate. Have any fellow Cii or Laredo owners here modded their basses for stereo output?
Re: ROS on a 4004Cii?
I have, but not in the traditional RIC way. I only have a single stereo jack, which is fine for me since I always run with separate amps. But, I do have the option of going mono with the flick of a switch...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

CJ,
Thats some nice work there! I like how you countersank the switch screws & kept the controls mainly in back, presumably to keep the front of the bass uncluttered. I'm kind of hesitant to mod my MapleGlo Cii (its the very first one built with the new 2-piece flame maple neck & UV-cured finish), and this mod would give me an excuse to order a second one in trans green to hot rod & modify.
My local dealer has a trans blue Cii in stock that I may settle for, as I don't exactly relish the idea of a possible 2-year wait for a green one. Hmm, I wonder when the next batch of Ciis will be built?

Re: ROS on a 4004Cii?
Thanks! And it's totally reversible.
This bass has been modified to have volume and tone controls for for each pickup (like a 4003) using "stacked" pots and knobs. The single switch to the right controls stereo/mono. The other switches select single coil/humbucking for each pickup, and standard/"vintage" tone by adding an in-line cap for each pickup.
Here's what the top side looks like:

So, when do we finally get to hear some sound clips of the different tonal variations your Cii?cjj wrote:This bass has been modified to have volume and tone controls for for each pickup (like a 4003) using "stacked" pots and knobs. JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!

Maybe in a couple of months. We're not quite finished moving, still have boxes everywhere and no room yet to set up my equipment...

Re: ROS on a 4004Cii?
I modded the first three 4004's for stereo use by replacing the mono jack with a stereo jack along with the appropriate wiring change. I eventually decided going stereo wasn't that big of a deal, so I soldered a jumper between the two contacts to convert them back to mono. I see what ya mean about the wide flat area around the jack though. Seems like RIC was thinking about a future ROS option.
