Yes Paul Atkinson used a Rose-Morris Model 1997 in Fireglo.

Anyone have a line on whether or not Paul hung on to his 1997? Some here may remember the Rose-Morris 1997 (Feb. '64, if I remember correctly) listed on eBay a month or so ago. The seller happened to be from St. Albans (where Paul and the rest of the band once lived). The seller could not confirm the guitar's history, but as Dave Davies learned firsthand, ex-wives have no problem carting the guitars of their ex-popstar-husbands to the local shops.

Paul Atkinson is a tremendous influence on me.
Brilliant, too-often overlooked guitar hero of the sixties.

My favorite song which he appears on:
The Zombies 'Leave Me Be'

Wonderful.

My Favourite Zombies track is "tell Her No" simply for the chords...

I'm a big fan of the Who, Beatles, Jam (amongst others), but the one band that really made me want to get a Rick was the Zombies. Paul Atkinson looked so sharp with that 1997FG, and sounded great too. Of course, he didn't use it to record, as he states in the sleeve notes of Zombie Heaven:

"By the time of 'Leave Me Be' I'd also acquired a Gretsch, which I eventually sold, as I didn't really like it. I swtiched it for a Rickenbacker, which I then played all of the way through on stage, but I still used my electrified acoustic on sessions because it sounded great, chunkier and tougher, on record, and frequently better than the Rick. All played through AC-30s of course."

So many good songs (I can't think of a single dud), but I'm quite fond of "What More Can I Do", and "Just Out Of Reach", and I could go on and on...

I love The Zombies. Fans should check out the "Zombie Heaven" box set. I think "Imagine the Swan" is my fave track.

Paul Atkinson's guitar tracks are brilliant and The Zombies are one of my top faves. Care of a Cell, Hung up on a Dream, Smokey Day - and the list goes on.
Also, listen to what Chris White does on bass (not a Ric but sounds great...)
