John, I'm surprised you don't regularly play you 4004C. That's a great bass guitar!

I flaked out on scoring a few Ci's in the last few years to replace the one I sold and I recently find myself regretting passing on 'em even more. Break it out and enjoy it John......one of RIC's best kept secrets IMO.

Thanks all - yeah it is a really great bass. The way it plays, the tone, the sculpting of the body, the weight!, and the gestalt. With 6 Ricks now, they can't all be played at once.

John, I have round wounds on mine right now. I can't remember if they are D'Addario EXL-170s or Detroit Strings steels. Both fine strings. I'll have to look at the ball ends when I get it out.

when my 4004L came it had the half rounds on it... great sound!! Now that it's an 8, I start the fundamentals with an EXL220 set.... and that sounds great as well!!!

From what I have researched, steel rounds are required in getting the Ric humbuckers to grind and growl at optimum. Does this ring true?

John, I believe any brighter round would accomplish that. Haven't paid that close attention.

Okay, they look to be a set of the strings I got from Jake B - RIC bulk?
