Checkered binding on eBay

Post by coolhandjjl »

Doing a vintage restoration? Checkered binding on eBay, item #280591986475. Seller claims it is NOS from the last run from the actual manufacturer who supplied Ric.

No affiliation with seller.

At one time this binding was available directly through RIC for repairs. He may very well have purchased it years ago, but if my memory serves me well I believe he purchased it years ago from another forum member that aquired it properly.

As far as I can tell, you can get all you want here:

I understand that he bought a large quantity directly from Shellex, back in late 2006.

I'll have to have a word with those folks. We haven't dealt with Shellex for maybe 20 years now. That's when we switched to higher quality product (i.e. straight checkers) from Japan. Now it all comes from Italy and it certainly isn't celluloid!

(Rand aka Randall Piggott will get busted big time if he ships what he thinks is celluloid by U.S. mail, as the auction states. It needs to go by some service such as FedEx or UPS which has a flammable/hazardous item service category.)

I must be thinking of someone else, I recall alerting the seller to a wanted post.
