350v63 or 620 with a Z wreck

Post by MyBBruce »

I just bought one of the DR Z Z wrecks. Debating between the 350v63 and the 620. Anyone have both of these. I know the 350 is more of that beatles tone plus it really light weight. What's the over-all tone of a 620. Also are they really an 8 lb guitar??

Thanks all

I have a 350v63 and a 610. Different sounding guitars, yes, but both have the general Ric vibe.

Main difference I would say is the sustain -- what you would expect from a semi-hollow vs. a solid guitar.

My 610, BTW, is a real featherweight. Not heavy at all.

The 350V63 is lighter, plus it has more tonal/wiring options due to the three pickups. The 620 doesn't weigh all that much more and it balances just as well as the 350. Tonally, the 620 covers nearly as much ground as the 350V63 but can get a little more agressive. I consider them pretty much interchangable with minimal knob tweeking.
