Need a photo of . . .

Post by bassduke49 »

. . . the joint area of a set-neck, shedua-strip bass, either a 4000 or a 4001S from 1972-1980ish to use in my book. I'd need a high-res shot with a non-destracting background, sort of like the picture of a V63 heel attached. I've nearly completed the chapter on the 4000 bass, and need to highlight this feature. The photo should clearly show the set-neck joint and shedua strip, so it would have to be a transparent finish like Mapleglo, Fireglo, or Burgundy. If you have a shot or can take one, please get in touch.
The chapter has great photos of early basses, RIC publicity shots of artists most of us have forgotten, and will have two "identifying features" pages to show the early and late 4000 basses. Right now, the 4000 chapter is nine pages long. Things are rollin'.

you should probably also want the other side as well showing the extent of the body slot routered for the neck with pickguard off.

Close. If you could get a shot more from the neck side so the step from the neck to the body is more clear, that would be good. Need good sharp focus and high-res file if you can.

This is going to be one heck of a book!

"Everything you thought you knew about Rickenbacker basses but were afraid to ask"
If Mozart were with us today, he'd play a Fireglo 4001C64! ~~~*~~~ Beethoven, on the other hand, would play a Matte Jetglo 4001C64S!

That's a really great picture Ron. I would be proud to own a set-neck Ric bass.

hey ron...post a pic of the top surface...never seen a clear look as my UF-6622 4001s was jetglo, so the joint was obscured.

Is this what you are looking for, top surface at joint?

Thanks, Ronbo. I know there are differences in the height of the fretboard, but are they related to model or time period?

Will do, Paul. I'll give you both those and some others.

Now I have to hunt for my original downloads of these photos to get you the high-res ones.

You'll have them later today.
