Nice bass!

I have a new 4003(April 2009) with the two-piece laminate neck and like it. It's thinner that the ones produced right before it (Jan 2009), which are beefier, but quite nice all the same.
If Mozart were with us today, he'd play a Fireglo 4001C64! ~~~*~~~ Beethoven, on the other hand, would play a Matte Jetglo 4001C64S!

I like the 2-piece neck a lot. It's a little thinner than the old necks and quite strong, with no flexing at the body joint on 4-2-5 conversions. Here's my new '09 Cii with a few mods. I swapped the gold out with Paul Boyer for his chrome and then swapped his truss rod cover with another forum member for a white molded one. The body has been routed for the 4003 style bridge pickup set-up, but still uses the original HB1's. It's wired VVT with RIC vintage knobs, and also has a set of D'Addario flat wounds on it. This will eventually transition into a 4-2-5er, but I'm enjoying it the way it is for a little while longer.

I've owned both, and prefer the Laredo.

Lighter, a little brighter, not a big fan of gold trim.

For anyone who has or is a fan of the 4004 basses, Cheyenne and/or Laredo, there is a Facebook page called Rickenbacker 4004 Club if you would be interested in joining. The page is closed to anyone from freely joining due to some boneheads who joined just to post spam on the page wall. So if you'd like to join, just send a request.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

Hey, are you talking about my 4004Cii?

Scott, I love your Blueburst. I'm thinking of getting a 2nd Cii, and since it looks like Ric won't be doing any new "color of the year" colors anytime soon, I'm really leaning towards a trans. green Cii.
