Daryl Hall and John Oats

Post by Blackstar4003 »

I remember there being a Daryl Hall and John Oats video sometime in the late 80's or early 90's with a wonderfully distorted Jetglo RIC guitar that Daryl was playing. The distortion was very unique. There was a break in the middle of the song where that RIC just cut through. It was an amazing sound, nothing like it. I can't for the life of me locate it. It wasn't one of their most popular songs. The stage was black, might even have been raining in the video. Although they were on a stage it wasn't actually a live performance. Sorry I can't be more specific. Anyone have any ideas about what song this might have been. I would love to track it down.

I think this is it. When you described it, I knew exactly what you meant, and I haven't seen this in maybe 20 plus years!

Jeff....That's it! Thank you. I love that guitar sound from about 2:30 through the end of the song. It is such a unique distortion.

That's a great song.... I remember when it used to get some radio play.

I like the splashing water effect in the video--it seems that that Ric has a rather smooth, liquid sound. I wonder what he used to make it sound that way?

It's obvious, he just poured a lot of water all over the amp! Give it a try...

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Are you sure he did not pour water all over the guitar? :?

I fell in love with this song and H&O in general when working on my CD player conversions. Love the grunt of the bass in the ending of the song. Looks like he is playing a Precision on stage but was known to own and play an FG 4001. Opinions, is this a 4001 or Precision in the recording? My vote is Fender.
