So, how's that new 4001 C64 playing?
If Mozart were with us today, he'd play a Fireglo 4001C64! ~~~*~~~ Beethoven, on the other hand, would play a Matte Jetglo 4001C64S!

Well if you are asking me.. it's just terrific. I have been using it with a sansamp and it sounds great.Ric N. Backer wrote:So, how's that new 4001 C64 playing?

+1 on SansAmp!
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Re: New 4001C64
I've been playimg mine through my SWR Baby Blue studio reference combo, and it is amazing. I love the Baby Blue for comparing basses, and for hearing an accurate representation of the uncolored tone of any bass. The difference in tone between my C64, my 4003 and my 4004Cii is suprising, and I appreciate each bass for it's own sonic character.
I LOVE the horseshoe/toaster combination of the C64 - it is a sound I have been chasing for years, and was never able to get just right with my 4003.

I want a 4001C64 SO BAD! Then I could put roundwounds back on my 4003 and have my vintage Rick and my modern Rick.
I just love the tone that Paul got out of his bass, the standout example to me being "With a Little Help from My Friends." I love his tone on that one!

This bass is just fricking amazing. I have now rehearsed with it and tried it with a variety of amps. I cant believe how good it sounds and how smooth it plays. I have played nothing else for the last few weeks...big mistake. Picked up some of my 4003's the other day.. what a difference. They feel like 2x4's comparativley. Even the guitar players/wankers in my band have made comments on the tone I am getting. Thats pretty rare as they dont realize much outside of their own little worlds. The drummer says he has never heard such a nice sounding bass.
