I use gStrings on my droid and love it. It's extremely precise.

+1!

It's great for a quick tune up on the acoustic guitar.

Do you plug the instrument in through the 1/8'' or do you just let the external mic pick it up? I've been using ClearTune with good results but will try this also.

While we are at it... the iReal Book for iPhone/iPad is truly wonderful. Any jazzers out there really need to pick it up if they have a device that can utilize it. So much better than a big box with all versions, legal and illegal, of the original Real/Fake/Super-Ultra-Real/etc. Books...

Josh, Internal mic.

I got a chance to try this today and after setting for bass, I found this app to be a wonderful tool. It is very FAST and accurate. It has a needle mode and a strobe mode. I can't see a rack mount unit or an expensive stomp box one working any better. Highly recommended!

Thanks, John. I downloaded it yesterday. Seems real accurate, and like the needle mode.

Argh; you guys are making it even more difficult for me to decide whether to stick with Sprint and get the new EVO phone for free, or keep my number and switch to AT&T and get the iPhone so I can use Fastcase(free legal research) software...and this. The only other factor is cost. I get everything with Sprint for $69.99, unlimited texting/inter cell phone minutes, while AT&T is more expensive for all that stuff...

Anyway, thanks for the info. :)

Paul, I use Sprint also as my cell for a number of reasons, as well as cost.
I do have a an 8G iPod and worked it through some compatibility issues, and put it on my iPad also. Kinda hard though to stick an iPad in your pocket :D

Yeah, I have an iTouch. You have to have the earphones/mic plugged in to use this app but I dangle the earbuds in front of the drivers and it works like a charm. I too like the needle mode.

Also I got another email from TC and they said the 25000 went so fast they opened it up for another day and had over 50000 downloads. I just looked and they are now charging $9.99 for it.

Yeah, but it wouldn't be hard to see the needle on the iPad!

Update; version 1.1 is out and the price is 99 cents for 3 days. Usually $9.99. No iron in this fire, just a really great tuner app.
