I noticed that all the saddles are positioned in the same direction. What type of strings and what gauge made it necessary to do that; with respect to getting it to intonate properly?
You know, I never noticed that until you pointed it out. Paul W must have put them on there that way when he set it up after it's refin.

I use standard gauge Rickanbacker strings, and I've never really had any intonation issues with any of my basses.

Like that Matte Black Finish! 8)

Dean, that's James Dean. 8)

Hey, I got a question for you. How do you maintain that matte finish? My 4001C64S, Matte Black, is beginning to get some semi-glossy spots. What's the secret to keeping it matte?
Actually it isn't a matte finish.....just standard JetGlo!

Ya, in this pic I can see that it's shinny. Nice. :D

Is the fingerboard ebony? Looks like it.
If Mozart were with us today, he'd play a Fireglo 4001C64! ~~~*~~~ Beethoven, on the other hand, would play a Matte Jetglo 4001C64S!

I've also got a 4001c64s in Jetglo. I wonder how many are out there? Jetglo is my favorite also.

My local dealer sold two of them, so there's more than a few... :D

I've seen a few matte and glossy out there. I don't think they were produced in the same quantities as Fireglo and Mapleglo. The Midnight Blue matte and gloss are rare. I've not seen many of those. I'd love to have one. The problem was that dealers wanted $3,700.00 for them. I just couldn't justify spending that much.

I'm talking about the "S" model, the mccartney modded one (shaved horns etc..). The stock 4001c64 I've seen quite a few in jetglo but not as many "S" models.

I haven't seen all that many Jetglo 4001C64S basses come up for sale, as compared to the Jetglo 4001C64 bass. From what I've seen, the matte Jetglo finish (for the 4001C64S) appears to outnumber the gloss finish.

I haven't seen any matte Jetglo 4001C64 basses, only gloss finish.

It looks like you have a gloss Jetglo 4001C64S, which again, I believe is rare. I do recall seeing one posted on the other forum, in their classified section. That was, maybe, six-nine months ago.

Yep, its gloss Jetglo. I haven't seen as many gloss as I've seen matte but they both look great!

To the OP, is yours Matte or Gloss Jetglo? Hard to tell from the photos.

The 4001C64S is matte, the 4001C64 is gloss.

Cool! I saw one at Truetone Music in Santa Monica a couple of weeks ago. It looked super cool. I love your trio!
