To be more specific, binding on the neck (not the body) for the 4008. No binding at all on the 4003S/8.

Thanks guys for the info. on the 4008. I have a 4003s8 and it looks just like the bass pictured here.
That's why I was confused.

I'm not usually a fan of the 4003, because for the most part, I don't like the necks on them, but this oner has a very slim profile, and I'm setting it up more like a 4001, with 4001 pickups and vintage tone circuit.
