There were some comments about the bad mix on another RRF Thread here about the SNL performance --- I thought the stage-right side was under-miked.... could barely hear the keyboard parts and guitar riffs on Band on the Run come through on the mix. Considering how many different amps they had on stage, from so many manufacturers, its odd that there wasn't "enough" on about half the instruments.

Personally I think the mix was done purposely. Paul was not in good voice that evening.

Well, his voice may be going but his fingers seem as nimble as ever. If I can sing as good as that, and play half as well as Paul McCartney when I'm closing in on 70 years old, I will be quite happy.

Lennon Day would be great, but when Abe Lincoln can't have his own day,....it hasn't got a chance..

So whats the story with the mix of that Revolution performance on from David Frost?

At 3:24 there is an "alright" from John that clearly does not com from his mouth.
I think that it was recorded earlier (probably that same day) with Billy Preston (who cant be seen in the video) and that they were lip synching for this performance

That clip of Hey Jude is the one with much of the audience sound filtered out.... there the original "Perfect rendition" version, but even this one has some unfortunate editing right before Paul starts singing.
