You'll need the weight of the horseshoe to help balance this bass out since the upper horn is so short

I'll just glue a bunch of alnico slugs randomly all over the body and say they're polka dots... yep...

Re: what do you think about 4654 project?
i'm going to be making the body thickness in 1 and 1/2 " like the old late '50's robin zander style 450 or combo. plus it will be stretched to acomodate the 4001 scale as i'm using a '75 for the center section. i think the one mr. hall made has a stretched body like a 3001 or hamburg long scale. this will help in the balancing.
Re: what do you think about 4654 project?
I think keeping the small body will allow a 24 fret fretboard easier, while extending the upper horn like a 4001 will help with balance.

( i think mr. hall is quietly watching this thread with wheels a turnin' in his noggin ! wwaaaa ? we have to churn out another bass ??? )![]()

That looks great, but almost assuredly a neck diver.

Has someone proved the one bass that is in the Rickenbacker factory?

Re: what do you think about 4654 project?
it does look really nice! I'd like to see FWI on the fingerboard, or perhaps, dot inlays and no neck binding as the body has no binding.MiroN wrote:

Re: what do you think about 4654 project?
If you look at most production basses, you'll notice that the upper horn extends approximately to the 12th fret. This is for balance purposes. Leo Fender got it right in 1951.MiroN wrote:I don't think so!bassduke49 wrote:That looks great, but almost assuredly a neck diver.

Just make the tailpiece/bridge out of iridium and you'll be fine...bassduke49 wrote:That looks great, but almost assuredly a neck diver.
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
