SPEAKING OF RICK BASS TAILPIECES...

Post by BAD RONBO, KiLLeR DWaRfS »

check out the tailpiece / bridge assy that was installed on this bass in 1974 , if it is original to the year of manufacture. use the zoom feature !

That's most likely an Allparts replacement tailpiece/bridge assembly. You can tell by the round holes for the strings to pass through; a real Rick part os a tapered oval.

The tailpiece is the same part used on Ibanez fakers (which I believe is the very similar to the Allparts tailpiece). The bass looks like the spawn of a Les Paul Recording Bass and a Rick 3000....

whether or not that the tailpiece is original to this bass in '74 is a big question. was there another bridge installed and this was a replaced unit ? when did ibanez and greco etc., start proper copies of the 4000 series ?
