Yeah, I kinda liked B initially, but there's just something about the curves that makes it look wrong. So I'll say A too...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

The more I look at the 195x Ric guard, the more I like it. As Dane alluded to, the other may be too 'Fender-esque'.

Does anyone have a template? I can photograph my 4004 and do some superimposing, mod the shape to fit, and also make the pickup openings in Photoshop. Then I can make a new PDF for the cutting. Otherwise I'll have to get a pic from the Resource and work off of that.

A...but have it go all the way around the bridge unless you plan on doing the plexi rod and cover routine. The covers are available from RIC, but I don't know if they'll fit over an ABM bridge.

Another alternative, and one I think I like a little more is the Rick 450 guitar.....

I don't plan on doing the sliding mute. Did you mean to have the new pg be continuous around the bottom curve and then mount the bridge right on top of the new pg or just connect those bottom ends with a strip and have the bridge mounted in a hole in the pg?

Re: 450: Not groovin' it that well. One of the things I like about the 195x pg is the way it makes the chrome Ric HB-1's look. Reminiscent of the way the Horseshoe looked against it.

That last one is... too much plastic. Same with the 450. Ya just gotta see some wood (or even the finish color for solids)...

Ya, that is too much plastic, but it would look better on a jetglo. As for the '57 guard, it should be cut out for the bridge fit into a rectangular hole in it.

The more I think about it, the more this bass would be a good candidate for a "57 4001" conversion. Gotta have gold plastic, so you'll need to get your truss rod cover painted gold with black letters. Route the bass from the top for additional controls like a newer 4003 though. Swap out the tuners for a set of C64 tuners too. Ya, that's the ticket
