Don't laugh CJ, but we had a nun in Primary School who looked exactly like that, only she was about 85 not out and had two canes, allegedly for walking assistance, but they did have several alternative applications.

One of her methods of operation was to be sat down opposite her at her desk, after being hauled in from the playground for unspecified crimes. You would be interrogated for a short while, then when found guilty, struck simultaneously across each side of the head with the weapons, er, I mean canes. You were then released on a good behaviour bond, whereupon you staggered to the office door and made your way semi conscious back to the playground.

How she managed not to kill anyone, I'll never know.

Regarding the Telecaster, it was originally called the Esquire, in both single- and double-pickup versions. By the time they reached full production, the double-pickup ones were called Broadcasters, and "Esquire" used for just the single-pickup ones. Gretsch threatened to sue Fender over the Broadcaster name, as they had a drum set called the Broadkaster (note the spelling), whereupon Fender changed the name of their double-pickup guitar to "Telecaster", starting the practice of using names ending in "-aster" (Stratocaster, Musicmaster, Jazzmaster). Perhaps the Marauder should have been called the Disastercaster? And "SG" does indeed stand for Solid Guitar, not Standard Guitar. The first Les Paul model to get the SG moniker, at least in the catalog, was the slab-bodied double-cutaway Special, in 1959. Personally, I have no problem with Rickenbacker using numbers rather than names--they have a fairly logical system. "Capri" is kind of cool, but they used the name on the entire semi-hollow series--3/4 size, full-size, double-cut, full-body, etc. Lots of different models with the same name. I rather like "Western Concerto", which was used for a short time for 381/2/3/4's, acoustic flattops, and archtops, but I understand it didn't catch on.

I suppose if RIC decides they want names for their numbered guitar models they could just invent words like they do for Toyotas: Camry, Corolla, Yaris, Prius.... none of those words really mean anything, but we can envision the shape of the car in our minds when we hear the names.

I always thought the 4000 design as being ahead of its time,, almost futuristic. Something that Spock would play on the early Star Trek series.

That being said, I guess the 4001 could have been labled something like the Rickenbacker "VISION" bass. ?

My 360 12 v64 should be named "GODS GUITFIDDLE"!! I also own a Gibson les Paul BFG. I like to think the BFG stands for " BAD_SS F__ING GUITAR" !! Its my everyday player and I love that thing.
