I like how we can put up some kicking Ric bass in so many rock approaches. Besides the obvious Ric players (Sir Paul, Chris Squire, Geddy..."Trees" definitely), and the other big names who toted a Ric at one time, look at the rest of the names and their genres.

Rick James, BTO, The Jam, ARS, The Damned, Squarepusher....LEMMY! And some of the newer pop bands put them to use, too. I KNOW I've heard a Ric clanging on a Hives record or two. Whatever you call the "Ric Sound," there's room for it.

I've got musical ADD, but the Metal section is largest in my collection. Tool is covered. So, let me add:

Kyuss - Catamaran has a nice intro (the whole "And the Circus leaves town" has some great lines. I think Scott Reeder used a 4001 on it. He did when I saw them live)

Al Cisneros with Sleep or Om or SHRINEBUILDER...take your pick
'turn up the bass'

I didn't mention Kyuss only because I'm not 100% it's a Ric on the recordings. Scott used a few different basses. Still, Welcome To Sky Valley, And The Circus Leaves Town, and Muchas Gracias all feature at least some Ric bass. I'd like to think "Demon Cleaner" was a Ric but don't have a way to substantiate that other than a live version Tool did with Scott Reeder that does indeed use a Ric bass... two Ric basses actually, Paul and Scott are both wielding Rics. I also am quite convinced it's a Ric when I hear the tone of "Fatso Forgotso".

Genesis - The Fountain of Salmacis

Back when music without all the visual add-ons was good enough.

Hey, are there 21 frets on that Ric!!
If Mozart were with us today, he'd play a Fireglo 4001C64! ~~~*~~~ Beethoven, on the other hand, would play a Matte Jetglo 4001C64S!
