Ordering New Ric...
I am about to call my dealer for a new Ric...it has been 8 years since my last new Ric (sounds like a recovery program).
Want to order a 330/12 with Toasters but it does not look to be avalable anymore? Would I have to order one with High Gains and order seperate Toasters to be put in later?
Also, the website, under See available colors on Model 330, shows amber fireglo. I am guessing that is not available, but a glitch on the site...am i correct?
Is the wait time still over a year?
Thanks for the help!
Patrick

Re: Ordering New Ric...
You're right on most - at current you can order a 330/12 with hi gains only.
A good luthier should be able to switch those to toasters, though.
Amberfireglo was colour of the year half a decade ago, will be either JG, FG, MG or MID
You might bet better off checking several shops, as 330/12s can be found on stock - or check eBay.

I like to give business to a local shop I know that has a Ric account.
What is the current wait time?

Re: Ordering New Ric...
Unless he already has one on order I believe it could be up tp three years. Some Ricks that came in last fall to my local dealer were ordered three years prior according to one of the sales persons. I never asked the owner.Reynman wrote:I like to give business to a local shop I know that has a Ric account.

Re: Ordering New Ric...
Indeed, there is a back log of over two years at RIC. Nevertheless, there are plenty new 330/12's around on the internet (and maybe also on this forum).
Have a nice search,

Re: Ordering New Ric...
I wouldn't know...i dont have access to the for sale items until i get 30 posts. If thegearpage.net is any indication, i'll get that Ric from my dealer before i hit 30 posts
Re: Ordering New Ric...
Aw come on! You're 10% of the way there in just this one post! But, it's not like the marketplace has hundreds of guitars at give-away prices either...
As for ordering, yeah, there's still a long wait from a new order until that particular guitar shows up. It used to be about 2 years, but may be a little better than that now. But I wouldn't hold out hopes for less than a year, and probably still close to two.
But, as has been mentioned, if the dealer orders some fairly often, they may have one coming in soon that's what you want. If not, perhaps you can have your local dealer work some kind of trade with another dealer who has one in stock, that way you're not bypassing your local guy, the other dealer gets something too, and everyone is happy...

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Willcutt Guitars in Lexington, KY. has a new one in stock, if you want to go that route.
Re: Ordering New Ric...
Yowza...Wilcutt has lots of Rics in stock...
New price is a bit higher than i want...going to have to doublecheck with my dealer or go with used.

Re: Ordering New Ric...
I just got a new Ric 360 12 String from North Coast Music. Gary, the Owner, told me Rickenbacker only does 2 Runs of 12 Strings per year. One in the Spring & one late Fall. Fairly limited Production.
They are still pretty old school, which I like, unlike Fender & Gibson where build a jillion a year.
http://www.NorthCoastMusic.com had a Fire Glo 330 12 String. I almost bought it but decided on the 360 12 instead. You might check it out. His prices were lower on new ones than most of the used ones on EBay. Plus he hand picks them from the Factory & iincludes a proper Set Up. you might check it out.

PS I just checked. He has two 330 12's in Fire Glo

Thanks Glenn...
I contacted them earlier in the week. So far (outside my local dealer), they are the "leader in the clubhouse".
