RONBO'S "CRAWLSPACE BASS" JA-013...

Post by BAD RONBO, KiLLeR DWaRfS »

here she is...JA-013 , the "crawlspace bass" 21 fretter in all her un-finished glory at my buddy's studio for a portrait. thin "D" neck. the guard, rear pickup and trc are not screwed down yet (note gap at fretboard) . no laquer. i replaced both the headstock wings as the treble side matched the maple in color. they will really darken once a coating is applied. reverse mid '70's klusons replace the poo-poo grovers. tailpiece modified to accept the post '73 saddle bridge. green , chrome dome top slot screw coil with small rubber magnet and long pole toaster. kurz-kasche knobs as are my '64 and '68, replaced by me.

she was found under my drummer's rented house in scarborough, ontario. it was owned by his brother. sadly, had to toss the original case as it was badly destroyed by mold and mildew. the mapleglo finish was mostly eaten away by this mold, but did not affect the maple much. i got her for $250.00 cdn. in 1984. used her for one show in bradford, ontario soon after and decided to retire her for a while ( still retired) as she did not have the output that my '64 and '68 had. (this was a band just before the DWaRfS) she's still in the wood awaiting time to be laquered.

Wow, that is a nice one, even in the non-lacquered state! :)

Very nice. It still looks good without the finish. In fact, it makes you wonder if it should have a flat or satin finish put on it.
Expect nothing and you'll never be disappointed (and I mean that in an optimistic way).

Nice!

I'll have to check and see what's under my house.
If Mozart were with us today, he'd play a Fireglo 4001C64! ~~~*~~~ Beethoven, on the other hand, would play a Matte Jetglo 4001C64S!
