Facebook issues

Post by Rickygirl »

As some of you already know I have had problems with my hotmail email address being hacked into to help some low life try and steal a large sum of money from me.

It has caused havoc with anything using that email and I cannot access my Facebook. I only wanted to access it to close it down as it was also hacked into two weeks ago which I feel is all part of the same fraud.

I am going to have to leave it as it is which is bugging me as nothing I say to facebook makes them do anything to help me and I follow all the instructions and nothing happens.....unless they did shut it down and sent me an email to the old address!!!

I will not be responding to anything on facebook, but have my PM here if anyone feels like saying hello.

My word of warning....I wish I did not sign up to facebook. It all seemed to start there somehow, even though my settings are as private as you can get.

Ho Hum :(

Just checked and I still see you there on FB - one would assume FB would be a bit more of help when there's fraud going on.
FB only disable profiles, they never delete anything.

Have you lost control of your hotmail addie, then, as well?
Otherwise you could try the forgot password option - unless they changed the email addie in FB of course.

I reactivated my hotmail email to try to sort out the problem, but nothing happens, no emails with confirmation code arrive or anthing and still no luck. It seems impossible to do anything. I have tried everything and followed all the instructions. They didn't respond to my email cry for help either. This is OUR 1984 Big Brother.... I feel exposed with it, especially as someone has hacked in to it. Not nice. And now you say that, I think you said that on my facebook, I wish even more that I had not joined it.

I really feel sorry for you - what a mess. Definitely not good

Does Hotmail have a back-up email addie option like yahoo, or gmail?
If so, check there's none linked or they could hack into your account all over again!

Thanks Werner. I changed everything to alternative emails. I can only hope. It has put me off internet shopping so maybe that is a good thing!!

Sorry about your situation Sarah, any chance you think Hotmail was the culprit? I seem to hear about those accounts getting hacked into often.

I thought I'd heard the same, Mike. But I didn't want to tell tales out of school.

Geez, sorry to hear you're still having Facebook issues, Sarah! There are times when I think I should get rid of my Facebook as well. I stopped using my hotmail account a long time ago. I didn't like it.

Sorry to hear that Sarah. Unfortunately I have heard your story before, several times. I have deleted you from my fb friend list just in case, which I was sorry to have to do, but I'm sure you understand all too well! And yes, fb has little interest in helping folks in your situation, despite their size and influence, which sucks.

No Jdog, thats fine and in fact I am very happy for everyone to delete me, especially as I cannot access it at all now to delete the whole account. Maybe someone would put a post on it to say what has happened and to suggest everyone removes themselves as friends. Would someone mind doing that for me?? Thank you.

I am sure hotmail is the culprit, but facebook was hacked into and the password changed a week before the money tried to go walkabout. My bank online secure purchases password was hacked into and the password changed 3 times on the offending afternoon, so they had to be able to read my emails to click on the link to verify the change.

A close friend suggested I dump hotmail and I should have heeded the advice.

Thanks for the messages of sympathy. It has been a horrid experience.

Sorry to hear your troubles, Sarah. Let's hope it can get worked out for the best.

I'm with you, Joey, I sometimes just want to get rid of my Facebook. In fact, I quit updating my status and I only check for friend requests. That's it.

The only thing decent about FB is abusing fellow RRF members
