What color is this?

Post by 320capt »

While trolling on gbase I found this 360/6 V64 in green. Was this a COY?

Trolling? Really? I've seen many people get banned from sites for trolling

It's an interesting green metallic colour, like the green sister to MID. It's ugly as hell, but interesting.

That could be Turquoise, a standard color of that time, with a bit of off-color rendering due to the lighting used.

Here's a picture of my 4003 FL Turquoise that looks a light green due to the lighting I used:

I doubt it's only a matter of bad photography, if it's Turquoise, then it sure has yellowed resulting in greener colour?

It looks like a green version of MIB.

I hate to say it....I think I like it.

However, $3200 seems a little off the mark:

I like it! Cool color. And double-bound, too--very nice. There's no way that's yellowed turquoise, though--look at the binding; it's bright white. Could it be a refin--maybe one of Paul W.'s? Or is it a factory finish? And I think Rick was using "trolling" in its original sense, as in fishing, rather than in the current internet sense.

Jon, you might be onto something there - the bridge is not correctly installed, or the PU is (in the 360 O.S.).

As for trolling: for non-native english speakers there is only the internet meaning, you know!

Looks like Turquoise to me. I used to own a '97 360V64 just like it. 8)

John, is your bridge as horribly misalligned as the one pictured?

Anyway, I checked on several screens and it's just nowhere near Turquoise on any; nothing Turqouise I could find in the registry coming even close.
My best guess is refinish.

I think it's Turquoise. When you use a flash (and this photo was indeed taken with a flash) Turquoise really barks at you. It looks very different...much more "Irish."

I took these photos of my 4003S Turq without a flash: http://www.rickresource.com/register/vi ... ine%3Dtrue I've also taken a bunch more with a flash that I didn't post to the register because they were just not a good representation of the color IMO.

Lovely

Anyway, checked the pictures in the register you linked to, and hate to say, but not even close.
Trust me, I know what different lighting can do. When I worked in commercial print we had this colour matching lab. Colour samples would look different in different types of electric light, overcast, sunshine, but in shades (darker, lighter) nothing as far apart the 360 O.S. above and Turquoise.

I know. I probably shouldn't have posted a link to those photos until I could get home and find an example of the same bass that was taken with a flash for comparison. I might have even deleted any on my home PC that were taken with flash...they're that obnoxious!
