Yeah. This is why my 2009 no longer exists... RIC replaced it with a thin two-piece neck 2010 model. The neck was thick and it wouldn't respond to the truss rods. It was basically permanently fixed with a certain amount of relief...
Sounds like your neck was a bit too stable!
Glad to hear that Ric took good care of you. imho, Ben Hall has done a great job of enhancing Rickenbacker's customer service reputation, and with the outstanding service they provided for folks like you and me, I have to say they have some of the best customer service in the industry.
Yeah, I believe Ben was the one who determined my bass needed replacing, not sure though. And Richard and, when he was still there, Kenny, have always been good to me too.
I realize you were exaggerating, but I would be surprised if it didn't have some affect on the tone. Let me be clear here. I'm not talking about the single glue joint on the newer Ricks. I'm talking about multiple laminations.
BTW, that's one of the ugliest basses I've ever seen!
I'd like to see the 4001 three-piece neck come back (yet keep walnut wings), but the fact that RIC is doing 2-piece now is good enough and probably a good compromise since most people don't notice a difference from a one-piece when looking at the instrument.

Well, I agree but they are thinking outside the (Jazz/Precision) box.

That sounds great Joey, I always wanted a 4004 but shied away from the wider necks. Any news on the new bass coming out?? Any photo's of the Ric both??
Thanks
Now, Who is going to buy one of those nice new green ones, and decide that they don't like it and then sell it to me in about a year?

Eden.
I think I'll wait for a modified one that's bound to turn up!!
