Re: Unwinding an HB-1, hard?
Get the next size up screw...get the matching tap...chuck the tap in a drill like you would a drill-bit...spray some WD40 on the tap...insert tap straight into the original screw hole...squeeze drill trigger s-l-o-w-l-y set on clockwise rotation till tap has threaded a new hole...change rotation direction of drill...squeeze trigger s-l-o-w-l-y again till bit disengages from pickup...wipe clean of metal shavings...DONE!

Wire the pickup in parallel. If each coil is 5k, in parallel the pickup will read 2.5k. It will sound cleaner and brighter, and will still be hum canceling.cassius987 wrote:Dane, the main reason is because I'd like to keep the humbucking property. But obviously this idea was ill-fated.

I did find this pic of an HB1 coil.

My, someone must have gone through a lot of trouble in order to shoot that coil...
Is it still working?

I don't remember where I found that picture, but I save a lot of pickup pictures, especially the ones of the internals. I believe someone here posted it.
