Well, that also answers my question where it went!

The car itself is a horrible thing to drive - one needed a lorry drivers license chauffeur for it in Holland!

The Phantom V was the largest, heaviest passenger car of its time, but by no means a bear to drive after 1963, when it received the SCIII's front wings including quad headlights, along with power-assisted steering and brakes.

It ain't no Alfa in the handling department, but it is an easy, pleasurable, though ponderous driver; I've had a few hours in the driver's seat as a one-time member of the RROC.

Speaking of RR handling, we once took my '69 Silver Shadow around Willow Springs on a very hot day, air conditioning and stereo fully engaged, five people on board. Came out of turn nine at something like 80mph, nearly sideways, tires squealing. The car was quite predictable and safe near its limits!

I always thought the paint job was ugly but in reality now that I see good photographs of the "work" it is actually quite garish.

Agreed...........I know that I just smiled when I first saw photos of it many years ago.

Interesting. My first thoughts on the paint job were along the lines of "You sure can tell what era that came from."
