325V63 vs 325C64

Post by jonpaul »

I know this has probably been discussed before, but could someone identify the differences between the two models (325V63 vs 325C64). Is there a noticeable difference? I'm looking to purchase one of these models, but I want to make sure it is accurate to Lennon's second Rick (Miami version). Any information would be great!
It is what it is!

I'm curious too, I've got a 325V63 and it's such a great guitar. The C64 is supposed to be a completely redesigned version, I know for one thing - it has the right pickups this time. But other than that, I'm not really sure. I'll have to check in with Voxtalks this morning and get back to you on it. Someone started this indentical thread over there yesterday.
IMO - I thought the V63 was damn close anyway.

And maybe we should move this thread to the C series column.

The 325V63 was quite a good reproduction of John's 2nd 325. Especially the later models that had the benefits of corrections due to the Lennon Signature model and the change to scatterwound pickups in 1999.

I imagine there'll be some fine cosmetic corrections to make it a closer copy of Lennon's actual instrument. There may be some structural changes if they choose to make it exactly the same as an early '64 manufactured 325. Old style cross bracing, lack of neck volute, just to name two features of the early '64 325's, are issues that there'll be mixed opinions on if they were used.

It won't be such a clearly different guitar as the 325V59 and 325C58 are though. The differences will be more subtle, and possibly not even apparent to most people. As has been frequently said by many, the 325V63 was already a good re-issue.
