Truss Rods and Thank You

Post by T.A.R. »

To the Forum,
Thank You all so much! I still wasn't happy with my Rics neck I couldn't put it straight and had a bow albeit a gentle one that made the action an 1/8th" at the 12th fret. That 32nd or so drove me nuts it felt like miles! Not being able to leave it alone I pulled the Truss Rods. I was scared to death, I followed the advice given here, clamped the neck just below the nut and after taping the head stock worked them out. They were indeed bent in a smile, no wonder I had trouble I bent them into a frown, apex towards the fingerboard and re-installed. What a difference! The neck is pretty straight by eye the action is 3/32nds at the 12th fret. All measurements to the underside of the E sting the G is a little lower. So far she sounds great and plays a lot better than before. Again, Thank you all! The collective experiences and solutions here are such a huge help!
Cheers,
Ted
