Cool! I've seen an upright bass version from about the same time, but not a violin...

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

There's one in the RIC museum. This one looks terrific. Wonder where the price will go?

Pretty cool. It almost looks like some kind of crossbow. And some of the photos on e-bay make me think of some type of weedwacker or powered garden tool!
Expect nothing and you'll never be disappointed (and I mean that in an optimistic way).

Now wouldn't it be something to hear some good ol' western swing played on one of these, and an early model (1930s) Rick lap steel.

Funny you should mention crossbow. We were at the art museum yesterday, and of course went to The Armor Court.

I can't play it, but I'd have it in my collection in a snap....if I had the coins.

Another example of RIC being ahead of its time. There were a few of these on display at Deke Dickerson's "Guitar Geek Fest" during NAMM `09; IIRC, there was a whole string group in the 30s that played these, including the bass. Most people probably think the first time this sort of thing showed up was in the 80s. The first time I ever saw anyone play anything like this was Sting playing a bass version in a Police video, but these predate that by about 50 years.
