Pretty cool. It almost looks like some kind of crossbow. And some of the photos on e-bay make me think of some type of weedwacker or powered garden tool!

Another example of RIC being ahead of its time. There were a few of these on display at Deke Dickerson's "Guitar Geek Fest" during NAMM `09; IIRC, there was a whole string group in the 30s that played these, including the bass. Most people probably think the first time this sort of thing showed up was in the 80s. The first time I ever saw anyone play anything like this was Sting playing a bass version in a Police video, but these predate that by about 50 years.
