I remember it just like it was 47 years ago--vividly foggy. Yep, at least in my home it was B & W.

My English girlfriend's dad called them "b l o o d y Scouse gits"... Home Counties snobbery.

Yeah, me too. I don't think my Dad was particularly impressed with them...

Mom kept telling me not to sit so close to the tube. My nose was glued to it during that show.

I heard on TV news this morning that today is the 50th anniversary of the Beatles first performance at the Cavern Club.

I remember seeing them on Ed Sullivan. Electrifying. Of course my parents weren't too impressed either. Funny thing is last time I talked about music with my Mom, she said "I always liked the Beatles." Uh......sure......except that's not how I remember it.

Yeah, I think all our parents mellowed on the Beatles after the fact.

Ya shoulda heard my parents when I was flipping over Genesis on Ed Sullivan..... I was also aware it was a Rick bass and that it was entirely different in musical style and presentation. I was hooked.

Not mine. She never did see the light with The Beatles or rock music, but I think Mom wanted to like Paul. She bought his oratorio DVD and liked it. She was stalwart.

Ed’s show was past my bedtime in those days – dad called me and my brother down to watch (a few times)… did it for the Three Stooges too. Dad was a good guy! Thanks for posting Mitch brought back a flood of good memories!

Watched it on a 17" B&W set, 52 yr old mother nearby doing her knitting while watching--she liked it as much as I did(well, nearly).
