The "Zachary" 480
http://www.zacharyguitars.com/150109pics.htm
This article is full of rhetoric, 90% of it negative, so it's hard to cut to the core issue, which is the guitar itself. A lot of the photos are redundant, too, but you get the idea. It would be interesting to hear an actual unbiased review of the guitar.
I guess another important issue is the fact that he's selling it as a 'Zachary R480.'

what he is selling is a copyright infringement! And I have to admit that he seems more impressed with his yarn spinning than informing anyone about guitars. Don't buy, Sue. haha

That body shape is vaguely familiar...... and I am not trying to bash because I'm a Rick nut but that headstock just does NOT work visually.

His head is much larger than his skills or creativity. I'm tired of his negativity and self-satisfied superiority.
Re: The "Zachary" 480
Full-on copyright infringement. And yeah, that headstock is more like an anti-stock.
Out of all the jibberish he spewed, my favorite part might have to be:
"I am convinced that had John Lennon been given a real guitar, he would have become a world class shredder instead of "Love, Love Me Do" and the rest of that liberal krap."
or
"The sad part is, many get old never advancing from that high level of ignorance."
... the irony of which I'm sure will forever be lost on ol' Zach.

His website is quite educational when you get right down to it. Here's what I came away with:
Never drop a baby human on its headstock!

Re: The "Zachary" 480
He has a video of himself playing this guitar on YouTube with the title "You can't do this on a Rickenbacker".
Yea, sorry mate. I own a 480 and can play better than you.

He's disabled comments and hidden his face behind an Opti-Visor!
No wonder he has tunnel vision. An Opti-Visor has a really NARROW field...
You CAN, however, leave comments here:

Re: The "Zachary" 480
I don't have any personal problems with the guy, and the 480 was hardly a popular guitar so it's not like he's taking pot shots at a 'grail', but I have a huge pet peeve with people who present opinion as fact. He probably bought it having no understanding of what kind of guitar it is and made up this baloney story to explain why he couldn't play it.

Re: The "Zachary" 480
Ricks aren't for everybody, so he's more than entitled to his worthless opinion
. I just get a kick out of people like this who cop a blanket attitude based on one experience. His rant about John Hall not being a suitable guitar manufacturer who doesn't play guitar or care about music was rich. As for John Lennon, I'm sure had this joker attended Quarrybank with Johnno and the lads, they would have debagged him for being a twit.

TWIT is such a great word.
Re: The "Zachary" 480
He's not just slagging Rickenbackers -- his whole schtick is to badmouth any guitar made by anyone other than himself. There was a piece in Esquire on him a few years ago. The first sentence pretty much somes up his attitude:
"Your guitar sucks. That's pretty much the mission statement behind Zachary Guitars, a tiny outfit run by Canadian rocker Alex Csiky."
I have no idea whether or not his guitars are any good -- from what I've read the people who buy them think they're great. However, my conclusions from looking at his website are: (1) his visual design asthetic - in relation to both guitars and web site design -- is terrible; (2) his personality -- or at least his self-created persona, which may be an attention-seeking device -- is obnoxious in the extreme, and (3) I don't like his politics at all.
In short, I'd never buy a guitar from this guy -- not that he would ever let me, since I no doubt fail to meet his exacting standards (he requires prospective customers to send in a video of them playing so that he can judge whether they are worthy).

Re: The "Zachary" 480
Now, that explains his swelled head.
Don't nobody tell him that Esquire jumped. you know, back in 1971.
Oh, wait. That makes him and Esquire a perfect match!
