HELP! I locked my guitar in the case!!!

Post by vintagemusicgear »

I have an early 80's Ric that got locked in the case by accident. I don't have a spare key....I tried using a paperclip without success....any suggestions?

Do you have keys for any other guitar or luggage cases? I always assumed many of those little keys were somewhat interchangeable. Also, if you don't mind me asking, how did you lock it without the key?

I would suggest taking it to a luggage shop. They should have the necessary tools to open the lock for you.

Take your case to Pick of The Ricks. Chris is sure to have a key to open it with. He is right in Lindenwold, about 15 minutes from Moorestown. Hell I work there every other Saturday, but I work everyday in Mount Laurel.

Good idea, Darryl, I'm sure Chris could help.
It not all that rare of an occurrence where a guitar getting locked in it's case and the key gets lost. I know some people that throw away case keys when they get a new case.

I never use the locks on my cases, and I haven't had a single escape yet.

Sorry, David, I sympathize. Try Chris or your locksmith is my advice, too.

Cases have locks? Well I never.

All kidding aside David with wee a bit of a struggle, most keys for old fashioned (vintage) suitcases should turn the mechanism. But I bet you scoured the house for one of those already.

A locksmith may be your best option.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

i can't believe the logic of having locks on a guitar case in the first place. if someone has the inclination to steal a guitar, they would take the lot...guitar in case ! :?

I can't remember ever locking a guitar case myself. I don't even remember what I did with the keys.
