Re: RICKENBACKER BASS?
Yes Paul I saw that one too.
Not all of us in Canada are so confused.

Re: RICKENBACKER BASS?
Hey, McCartney played Ricks Right? I'm sure I've seen him play one of these... Must be a Rick, right???

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

That's weird. It's neither fish nor fowl. But it might be foul.

Re: RICKENBACKER BASS?
My first bass was on similar to that; an unmarked Japanese copy of the Höfner 500/1. I remember it cost $89 new, and I bought it at a small music store on Vermont Ave. in L.A. As a second-year student in college and living with an aunt and uncle, I couldn't afford the $300 or so they were asking for the real German instrument. It worked fine, but was terribly neck-heavy. I remember when I did get to play a real Höfner how light it felt. I ended up breaking the neck, and after a homemade repair, I loaned it to a guy who was helping out with my first band. Never saw it again, but by then I had my first Rick.

Re: RICKENBACKER BASS?
This is actually a Kingston bass, ca 1977. Here's my brother Brian with his new Kingston, either late March or early April '77. His is a brown to blonde sunburst, but it's the same model.

Kingsbacker?
Rickenhofner?
Take off! Think I'll just go for some gravy fries & forget about it.

I should have clarified. I bought that copy in Feb/Mar 1969!
