Does anyone have an actual weight comparison between brass and aluminum versions backed by data? I have an early black brass version and if the aluminum is lighter (by far) and more Rickish tone wise, then I should look around for a black aluminum version. The sustain and tone of this is quite astounding compared to the stock RIC piece however.
No matter where you go - there you are.
Definitely. It has the same tone and sustain type upgrade that I heard on my old P bass, after I installed a BadAss 2 bridge.
I urge a lot of people to try and get to play a Rick with a Hippy on it. It seems the bass now vibrates a lot more. I can feel it through the neck and body, even when I'm playing acoustically.
Nice!!!!

What d'ya mean... the bass is TOO loud!
Re: Hipshot bridge
I have some serious troubles with my Hipshot bridge.
I can't get a screw(the long one, for intonation) back in the saddle. It will go in for 1mm, but won't go any further, 'cause it gets stuck.
I tried different screws from other saddles and they won't fit as well. So I guess there is something wrong with the particular bridge saddle.
The screw-thread inside the saddle is kinda messed-up.
I just sent an email to Hipshot. Hopefully they can send me a new saddle or something.

Re: Hipshot bridge
Solved with some pliers forcing the screw to go further.
Still I'm not completely satisfied with the Hipshot Replacement Bridge.

Re: Hipshot bridge
Question for hipshot owners...
Are the bridge intonation screws for the D and G string taller than the screws for the E and A string?
This happen to be the case with my Hipshot bridge. The D and G screws are too tall so I can't intonate more precisely.

Re: Hipshot bridge
Are they supposed to be cut for your individally required lenght?
My HB came with one spare, long screw.
Re: Hipshot bridge
If I remember correctly I had to request different lengths than what it originally came with.

Mine has since been replaced back to the factory Rick tailpiece. I like the look better.

Re: Hipshot bridge
I think the last one I bought shipped with a couple of extra, different length screws.
I'm a big fan of the Hipshot, but I'll admit, it's not perfect. It's too bad they don't have the saddles in individual channels like all their other bridges. Little bit of wobble on the aluminum one I have now. My previous brass boat anchor was fine....

Re: Hipshot bridge
No probs w/my chrome brass hipshot. vast improvment over stock. increased sustain and tone. added wieght makes bass more balanced. Geddy Lee had the right idea.
