New Rickenbacker Bass Day!

Post by jack1953 »

I've played the 4001, 4003, 4004L, and the 4004Cii Rickenbackers. I believe, over all, the 4004Cii is the best bass. However their resale value can't even come close to the 4003s. So, up until now, I've opted for the resale value and kept a 4003.

I just had the opportunity to get this mint 2009 4004Cii Blueburst. Blueburst has always been my favorite color but very hard to find, and when I did, they were all priced over $2000.00. Since the blueburst color is very rare I decided to forgo the resale value of the 4003s and snag this 4004Cii!

I figure by the time I can't play anymore, I should be able to get a decent price from this because of the color.

This is due to arrive Tuesday!!!

(Got the 2010 4003 Midnight Blue up for sale in here if anyone's interested)

Congrats, and welcome to the tribe! Your Blueburst is a real good looker. I have a pair of Ciis, and they are some of the best basses I've ever played or owned. Forget resale value - buy what you like, & let your heirs worry about future value. Again, congratulations, and enjoy!

Congrats Jack,

I hope you enjoy it.

VERY DIFFICULT choice on my part. :( :( :(

Hopefully, she's the last to leave my little flock.

It was a VERY HARD CALL...especially after waiting such a long time to get her.

It was either my 4004cii or one of my "brown's". The deciding factor was RIC is STILL making 4004cii's and one of these days, I'll have a chance at another.

Thanks Tony. My understanding is that Ric doesn't make as many of the 4004s as they do 4003s. Is that correct?

Not trying to steal you thunder, Jack congrats and enjoy that Cii. I gave it my two thumbs up, after I set it up.
I just hurt for Tony. :( I know how difficult it was to have to sell it.
I hope another Cii finds it's way into your collection someday, Tony. :)

I hear ya Joey. I know this isn't a Peavey friendly place, but it killed me to have to sell my USA Cirrus with the maple neck and fretboard!!! Best bass I've ever played hands down!! But, the IRS comes first. Only way I was able to afford this beauty was I have to sell my 2010 4003 Midnight Blue, which I am posting in here as well as Ebay, CL, Harmony Central, Frets and Friends, and Beatgear.

Thanks Joey.

I appreciate it, I really do. THIS one hurt. I know it's not as valuable as my 71 was, but this one took a LONG time in the "birthing process". Thanks too for the killer setup as well!

VERY VERSATILE bass, great tone...I love it JUST they way it is. No VVT needed on my part.

I WILL get another one of these days Joey....you can count on that. God willing, I'll be here long enough to get another.

Got nothing to go with not being a Peavey friend place. This forum is for the discussion of Rickenbacker products, I'm sure Peavey products are the topics of focus on a Peavey forum, not Rickenbackers.

My point wasn't Peavey focused my brother! It was an example of how painful it is sometimes to sell our 'material' things and let go of our selfishness, in order to keep our families first. That's all. Not a Peavey advertisement. You said you hurt for Tony for having to sell it. Well he sold it, for the very reason I sold my Peavey. I was acknowledging the pain of that.

If that was just a point you were making, then then was no need for the, "This isn't a Peavey friendly place" comment. And I know the pain of selling something you don't want to part with as well as missing something you didn't realize you'd miss so much when you sold it, like the 330 that I had!

Well said Mark, well said.

Jack did hit the nail on the head here guys. I did what I had to do for my family. I'm GLAD I had the means to fill the gap. I'm far from a wealthy man in material means, but I am rich with friends and family. 8)

I thank you all for feelin' the pain with me. Much appreciated. 8)

But, hopefully THIS is the ONE for Jack and I'm willing to let him have his day in the sunshine. I've had many myself, and will too again I hope.

OK, now does anyone have an idea what the order to store time line is?   8)

I KNOW I am in the minority, but I LOVE the back log at RIC...gives me time to make small monthly payments!

Hnmm, dare I say it? TRANS GREEN?
