When I talked to the salesman at Wildwood about it, after some prying, he said he thought the top coat had reacted with something to make a reddish tint that created a purple effect. Notice the headstock is still almost factory-spec TB.

WOW!!!! I don't stray into the bass forum very often, but I sure am glad I did today! :D :D :D

I love purple, and I think that bass looks amazing.

Indeed I should, Joey.... I actually popped in because I have finally started playing my Ric bass, a JG 4001v63, in my worship team. Our group has been heavy on guitars, but short a bass player so I volunteered, and I am really loving it! 8)

Whether by default or design, it's a very attractive shade of purple. Paul W's version is still the yardstick though!
