You realize how presumptuous you are being right? I have played the old ones numerous times. I used to use them on a Jazz Bass when I played for the jazz band in college because they were the only flats at the music store down the street. Sorry, but I prefer the new ones by leaps and bounds. Have you ever heard of different tastes, rather than casting everything in black and white?

Really? I can't speak to the old Fender flats, but this new set reminds me a lot of the D'Addario set (ECB84) that I've been using for the past two years, but with better tone, balance and feel. TIs come to mind when someone describes strings as rubbery and these new Fender flats are anything but that.
“'What was that note?' I told him it was a B natural, the third of G dominant 7 going back to C minor, and I can't talk while I'm playing so don't ask me any more questions." - Ron Carter to Miles Davis

Maybe he meant "cheep" as in reminiscent of a beautiful bird song?

I think we need to veer back the topic civilly or the last stop will be coming up very soon.

I've been playing the heck out of my (new to me) '77 4001 Autumn-Glo, strung with TI flats given to me by a fellow forumite; thru my new Boss GT 10-B multi-effects pedal - an Xmas gift from my drummer!

Not a bad way to while away an evening.

I love it Josh ! You and I hardly ever agree on anything in this forum. Never thought of myself as presumptuous but I am getting old and perhaps a bit tight minded. Enjoy those new Fender flats everybody and keep playing the lovely Rickenbackers ! I'm having my 4003 refinished in BLACK and WHITE

I got a bit peeved about how you were basically dismissing the new flats and acting as if I had no idea what I was talking about. But really it's just strings at the end of the day. No worries.

I guess someone didn't read what posted a few days ago. This Flats thread has fallen FLAT.
If anyone has a 9050CL sighting, feel free to post about it in another thread, because this is the last stop for this one.
