Pickguard to 4000

Post by YZZ »

Hi guys!
New member here, it seems like a nice forum.
Perfect for me as a Rickenbacker nerd :D

Anyway, i am looking for a pickguard to a 4000 but i can't seem to find any to buy.
on pickguardheaven and other places they only have 4001 and 4003.

Do anyone know where i can find one or maybe some guy here has one to sell?

Welcome to the forum!
Try Tony at Pickguardian he can help you with the pickguard. His work is excellent.

Haha thanks for the warm welcome! :D
I guess i'm a geek then.. nowadays i barely look at other basses except Rickenbacker, there is something very special about them i think.. :D

I guess you guys want to know abit of what i play then?
I do have 4 Rickenbackers even though only one of them is the real deal.
The real one is a MapleGlo 1980 4003 wich has been through quite a lot, shes starting to crack quite a lot in the finish and getting really worn after much touring (me like alot) :D
The others are one Jolana Rickenbackercopy with P/J pickups and the other two is a Fernandes Fireglo with snapped head and the last one is a Jetglo Setneck copy with checkerboard binding.

Weird thing that last one.
It has a fake Rickenbacker bellplate and some weird routing in it.
I have never seen a set neck copy before either.
Anyway, im converting this Jetglo into a 4000 instead and that's why i need that pickguard :)

I sent you a PM about it Sam!

Daniel:

welcome to the forum!

A warning though - copies of Rickenbacker's are the most contentious subject around here...

Surest way to start a flame war is to extole the virtues of what most of us regard as stolen intellectual property..

But you have at least one real RIC - so there is something to talk about...

My advice is to never mention the copies again around here...

oh alright sorry.
I totally understand that.

Yeah i never really play them actually.
I just have them for backup to the real one or just for fun.

I mean i have to be a bit careful with the real one, with the others i can just burn them up if i wanted to.
I don't have to be careful with them which is good at some gigs i think.
That is the main reason i have them. Like the one with the cracked head, now i can throw it away :D

A copy can never ever be as the real one, that is for sure.
Here's a pic of my 4003;

Hi! Nice BT Mapleglo, I love that combination.

Just a question, did you buy this one around 2009? I remember seeing that black painted back on the bay at the time I bought my 4003. Just curious

Again, nice bass! I completely understand what you mean by being careful with it at some places. I never take my Rick out to rehearsal rooms I don't know or bad reputation bars :p
