Congrats Brian! She's beautiful especially being strung correctly  Take your time finding the the RIC pups, but with the RIHS being out the bridge Pup should be easier to find. I recently found and installed a '72 HG replacing a Dimarzio that had live there for close to thirty years, the difference is amazing! Love the 70s HGs!

way to go,Brian! i wouldn't worry too much about the pickups,i played a 4002 with sd pickups for 11 years,it still sounded like a ric should, plus i had multi-coil tap options not available with ric pickups, which i bet your pickups may also be capable of. being able to have the rear pickup on humbucking, and the neck pickup tapped is a pretty sweet sound. Enjoy!

Thanks for the encouragement Woody, Mark and Ted...

Yes I am enjoying having a real bass...

Still amazed at the sheer size of it... The case dominates the pile..

CJ:

I am 6'4 myself... So I can relate.

But then I love playing my 320, which is very small guitar indeed...

Congrats Brian! It's hard to own that many Ric guitars without a bass eventually creeping in there. I see the same thing eventually happening for me, but reversed. I'm happy with my selection of Ric basses (could always use a few more though...), but I keep thinking more & more about a Ric 12-string. I just need to decide between a modern or vintage solid-body, or a C-series.

Richard:

Depends what comes up and is cheap I would think.... Almost every Rickenbacker I have bought (going back to my first one in 1982 which I paid $615 new) was just that I liked how it played, and that I could afford to buy it.

A 12 string is a great guitar - but they are not for everyone. A C series is at least $3000, which is a lot of coin to drop unless you are sure that you will play it... Also I am fond of used instruments myself... I think a few dings and scratches add "character" to an instrument..

But hey that's me...

Thanks for the congrats... I am enjoying the 4001!
